VIRTUAL REALITY FILMMAKING
I have always known that I wanted to pursue a career that brings together creativity and positive social change. I first began studying 3D modeling in college while working as an intern at the virtual reality company Here Be Dragons. It was there that I started to truly understand the power of merging art, technology, and creativity to create meaningful social impact. The company produced immersive VR documentaries that highlighted global social issues, allowing viewers to feel fully present within each story. This approach proved especially impactful when the work was presented at the UN Summit and to philanthropists and individuals seeking to support the causes they were experiencing.

In 2017, I was accepted into the New York Film Academy’s Virtual Reality Filmmaking Program. For my final project, I collaborated with Black Lives Matter Greater New York to direct a virtual reality documentary following Angelique Negroni-Kearse — a widow who lost her husband, Andrew Kearse — to police brutality. This project further reinforced my belief in immersive media as a powerful tool for storytelling, empathy, and social change.

Living in New York City also deepened my curiosity about the world and my appreciation for different cultures. After graduating from NYFA, I took several years away from formal creative work and became a flight attendant in order to gain a broader global perspective. From 2018 to 2022, I was based in Chicago and traveled extensively throughout North America, as well as internationally in my personal time. These experiences allowed me to witness diverse ways of life firsthand and continue to influence how I approach both design and storytelling.

Even after stepping away from creative work for a period, I remained drawn to design as a way to address real-world challenges. One recurring issue I observed throughout my travels was sustainability, particularly the growing problem of material waste. In 2023, I enrolled in Think Tank Training Centre’s online program, where I studied under industry-leading artists and ultimately focused my final mentorship term on digital fashion due to its potential to support more sustainable practices. Under the guidance of my mentor, Roei Derhi, I recreated one of Iris van Herpen’s couture pieces, a technically complex project that significantly strengthened my skills in digital fashion and 3D design.

I am now pursuing further education in 3D printing with biomaterials, with the goal of building upon sustainable practices within the fashion industry. Moving forward, I hope to combine my background in immersive storytelling, digital design, and emerging fabrication technologies to contribute to thoughtful, sustainability-focused creative solutions.
